Making Connections Update

We’ve had good times with the Connections activities. Following is a status report on the different areas of interest: Peggy Law reported that Let’s All Go to The Movies will be a quarterly event. We had a great time watching “Big Eyes” together in February, and look forward to our next outing this spring! Watch the weekly e- Blasts for more information in April.

Mickey Kilpatrick noted that, after two ice and snow postponements, seven readers gathered to create guidelines and select three books to review and discuss in the coming months. The group decided that, with the additional folks who had indicated interest but could not make the planning meeting, this round of discussions will be limited to those who have already signed up.

Liz Curtis is collecting names for a golf outing now that the weather is improving. Contact Liz if you are interested in participating.

Barbara Eck reported that the Thrift Shop Crawl met on January 28 and explored four of Hendersonville’s finest thrift and consignment stores, with a wonderful lunch break in the middle. There was enthusiasm for future outings and expanding to shops further away, and even a day in Asheville and/or Cashiers. This may continue as a quarterly event, with our next outing in April or May. Barbara noted that she would welcome help with organizing the next one and needs to hear from people who want to participate!

Becky Elston reported that weather has been perfect for the two DuPont State Forest hikes. “It’s been fun to get outdoors and enjoy our beautiful western NC landscape as well as the company of one another. TBD as to how many more hikes we’ll have but if interested let us know.” Contact Becky Elston.

Becky Reid asked that you contact her if you are interested in a games event. The response for the first try was not adequate to hold the event.

An adjunct activity has been established by Sandie Sensor. This group meets regularly to practice conversational Spanish.
