Finding a spiritual home can be hard. You shouldn’t have to…

Conform or hide who you are

Leave your questions at the door

Settle for surface-level connection

At UUFH, membership is about joining a community where you belong, where your voice matters, and where your values are lived out in meaningful ways.

Find Your People

UUFH Members and Friends* build relationships, explore life’s big questions, and engage side-by-side with others in the work of social and environmental justice.

Together, we find purpose, deepen our connections, and draw spiritual strength from a shared commitment to love, reason, and action.

Grow with Purpose

Membership brings opportunities to explore and celebrate spirituality and religious traditions. Education and enrichment programs offer growth for children, youth, and adults. Our minister, staff, and pastoral care associates provide support and comfort.

Members also become part of the larger Unitarian Universalist Association and spiritual community, including the UU World Magazine and other publications and resources.

Make a Difference

We share an inclusive, larger vision of live and love. You’ll find opportunities to engage in making that vision real. Take part in our shared ministry through service, social justice actions, and support.

You are also invited to participate in the democratic life of the congregation. Shape our future by raising your voice and casting your vote at congregational gatherings.

Join us to center both words and action around love.

The Path to Membership

  1. Get to know us. Come to services and events. Enjoy meeting other members and friends at Coffee Hour. Chat with Rev. George or to Sunday Shae Parker, our family minister director. Explore the “About” section of this website.
  2. Meet with our Membership Team. Find our membership co-chairs, Claudia B. and Liz D., at Coffee Hour or email them at membership@uufhnc.org. They’ll schedule a short, informal meeting to answer your questions and talk about UUFH.
  3. Sign the Membership Book. To make it official, you sign the book and pledge support at a stewardship level that fits you. You’ll receive an orientation packet and be invited to introduce yourself in a few easy ways.
  4. Get involved in ways that interest and inspire you. Attend an event, share a meal or coffee with a member, join a small group, or take part in classes and workshops that deepen your understanding of our faith and principles.

We are happy you are here and eager to get to know you!

*What does it mean to join as a Friend?

Sometimes people want to be part of the UUFH community without being an official Member. For example, you might live here seasonally or belong to another church yet want to support your spouse who’s a member.

Friends are warmly invited to participate in most of the same ways, and the process to join is similar.

So, what’s different? Friends do not have voting rights, cannot serve on the board, and do not receive the UU World magazine.

There are many reasons to become a Friend, and whatever your reasons are, we welcome you into our community.
