UUTC will offer the Our Whole Lives (OWL) sexuality education program for youth aged 4th grade to 6th grade.
OWL provides accurate, developmentally appropriate information about a range of topics, including sexuality and values, images in popular culture, body image, changes in puberty, gender, feelings and attraction, reproduction, decision making, consent, resisting peer pressure, and healthy relationships. The program covers 10 workshops over 6 meetings.
OWL is led by trained facilitators who provide honest information that is LGBTQ+ affirming, scientifically accurate, dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives.
The program educates all genders together for sessions, and provides time to discuss puberty and body related topics in a gender divided session. Sessions are led by two facilitators and the material is non-religious and applicable to all youth regardless of their faith background.
More information on the program is available at https://www.uua.org/lifespan/owl/why-owl.
