The Mission of Family Ministry at UUFH

Connection

To help individuals connect with each other, the faith community, and the universe.

Living Values

To help families understand and act on Unitarian Universalist values like justice, compassion, and sustainability through social action and community projects.

Faith Development

To support all ages in their spiritual and moral growth, discovering and articulating their faith identities within a diverse and inclusive tradition.

Intergenerational Relationships

To build stronger bonds between generations through activities that involve both age-specific and multigenerational learning and worship.

Community Support

To provide resources and a spiritual environment where families can find support, nourishment, and a sense of belonging.

Our Sunday Schedule

  • 10:30 – Families gather in the Sanctuary.
  • 10:45 – After the Story for All Ages, Sunday School begins.
    • Younger kids meet in the downstairs classrooms.
    • Older kids meet next door in the Cottage.
  • 11:30 – Kids go outside for supervised play. (Adults are welcome to enjoy coffee and conversation before picking up kids.)
  • 11:45 – Dismissal

Multigenerational Worship Services

Every service begins in community upstairs in the sanctuary. Sometimes we all worship together for the entire service.

On Multigenerational Sundays, children and youth are encouraged to be present with their caregivers. Often they are invited to participate in the service through rituals, skits, and songs.

Let’s Connect! I’d love to share more about our Family Ministry Program.

Program Highlights:

Integration: Family Ministry integrates faith development for all ages, rather than seeing it as solely for children.

Multigenerational Activities: Congregations offer programs and worship services that bring children, youth, and adults together.

Support for Families: Family Ministry supports parents and caregivers, recognizing them as the primary religious educators for their children and offering them resources for deepening their own faith.

Diverse Programs: Unitarian Universalist congregations provide a variety of programs, including religious education curricula, sexuality education (like Our Whole Lives), social justice projects, and multigenerational worship.
