We Are a Green Sanctuary

At UUFH, caring for the Earth is a spiritual practice rooted in our Unitarian Universalist values and our shared call to respect the interdependent web of all existence.
Recognized as a Green Sanctuary Congregation since 2016, we are joyfully continuing that work by pursuing recertification through Green Sanctuary 2030: Mobilizing for Climate Justice, deepening our commitment to a healthier, more just, and more sustainable future for Hendersonville and beyond.

Our Green Sanctuary efforts focus on four interconnected practices:
- Environmental justice: partnering with communities most impacted by climate harm
- Worship and celebration: grounding our work in what is sacred
- Religious education: shaping sustainable values and practices for all ages
- Sustainable living: making mindful choices as a congregation and as individuals.
Guided by our Green Team, we blend spiritual reflection with meaningful action through education, advocacy, and hands-on projects such as investing in solar energy, establishing community gardens, and creating justice-focused congregational initiatives.
If you share our hope for a livable future and our belief that love can change the world, we invite you to join us on this ongoing journey!
