The aftermath of Hurricane Helene continues to shape life in Henderson County and will for years to come. As Unitarian Universalists, we are called to respond not only in moments of crisis, but through sustained compassion, mutual aid, and faithful presence.
Our long-time community partner, IAM (Interfaith Assistance Ministry), is currently facing a critical shortage of volunteers.
IAM’s work embodies the UU values of justice, service, and care for our neighbors, and right now, they need us.
How You Can Help

Volunteers are essential to IAM’s ability to serve families impacted by disaster, housing instability, food insecurity, and financial hardship. Volunteers may choose one or more roles across different departments.
- Most volunteer shifts are four hours, either morning or afternoon.
- They are typically once per week, with flexibility to match your availability.
- Schedules can be adapted to work for you.
Whether you can serve regularly or know someone—friends, family members, neighbors, or coworkers—who might be willing to help, your time truly matters.
