Passing the Plate, Building Homes: Supporting Habitat for Humanity
Our Outreach Collection for this month is dedicated to Habitat for Humanity and is the final of 8 held by the Social Justice Team throughout the year. Show your Love in Action by giving generously to support safe, affordable housing opportunities.
A guest representative, Emily Fernald, VP for Programs at Henderson County & Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity will be our guest on May 3rd. She will speak briefly before the offering and will also join us for coffee hour to meet members and answer questions that you may have.
Henderson County and Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. While grounded in Christian values, Habitat for Humanity is committed to serving and collaborating with people of every faith and belief.
Through partnerships with volunteers, churches, corporations, and other stakeholders, Henderson County and Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity is able to work side-by-side with individuals and families to provide safe, affordable housing opportunities – homeownership, home repairs, and long-term disaster recovery.
Habitat’s vision is a “world where everyone has a decent place to live”, and for 50 years, Habitat for Humanity has empowered individuals and families through homeownership, financial education, and hands-on partnership. By building not only houses but strong relationships, HCTBHFH seeks to create lasting, generational impact.
NOTE: All otherwise undesignated donations on May 3 will be applied to this Outreach effort.
Please note May Outreach in the memo line on your check or on your donation envelope (available in the foyer) throughout the month.

Thanks for your generosity and support.

At UUFH, when we “pass the plate,” we’re doing more than donating: we’re putting our values into action.
This month, our outreach collection supports Habitat for Humanity, an organization that works alongside families to build safe, stable, and affordable housing.
Through volunteer labor, community partnerships, and a commitment to dignity, Habitat helps create homes, opportunity, and hope.
This work reflects the heart of our Unitarian Universalist values:
- The inherent worth and dignity of every person: everyone deserves a safe place to call home
- Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations: housing is a foundation for stability and well-being
- The interdependent web of all existence: when one family thrives, our whole community is stronger
Every dollar placed in the plate helps support this mission, right here in our broader community.
Together, we are helping build more than structures; we are helping build lives, relationships, and a more just world. Thank you for giving this month!
