The UUFH Social Justice Team continues to live out UU values by supporting organizations that strengthen justice, compassion, and community wellbeing.
This year brings an exciting update!
At the request of the UUFH Board, the SJT created a new Outreach Collection policy that merges the SJT Outreach Collections with the Board’s “Pass the Plate” collections.

This unified system now includes clear procedures for nominating, vetting, and selecting partners for our monthly giving.
Under the new process, UUFH will host 8 outreach collections annually:
- 3 recurring collections
- 2 organizations chosen from the congregational survey
- 3 Social Justice Team selections
After reviewing all nominations, the Social Justice Team has approved the following schedule:
September – The Free Clinics
October – PFLAG
November – Youth Hunger (FTKC / Backpack split)
December – UUSC – Guest at Your Table
January – IAM (Interfaith Assistance Ministry)
February – DREAM Scholarships
April –True Ridge / Pisgah Legal Services
May – Habitat for Humanity
How the Program Works
- On the first Sunday of each month, any undesignated cash in the offering plate goes directly to that month’s recipient organization.
- On subsequent Sundays, only designated donations—via check (note the recipient in the memo line) or labeled cash envelopes—are counted toward the outreach partner.
- You may donate any time during the month online at the UUFH website by clicking “Donate” and selecting “Outreach Fund.”
- Checks can also be mailed directly to the UUFH Bookkeeper at:
409 E. Patterson St., Hendersonville, NC 28739
(Note: anonymous cash gifts cannot be tracked for charitable giving records.)
Through this thoughtful and transparent process, UUFH continues to ensure our shared resources reach organizations making a real difference: locally, regionally, and beyond.
Every contribution, big or small, reflects our commitment to justice, equity, and caring for our neighbors.
