A Word from Don–Week 4

Hello again, good folks.

I’ve heard from many of you how this stay-put-for-now reality is taxing – financially, physically, mentally and spiritually. Even those of you fortunate enough to have job (outside or inside the home) flexibility are growing tired of life in near-cyberspace.

This – yes, this transition – is a reminder how we’re hardwired for connection. With one another. With animals. With the Earth. With ourselves. When those connections are severed, even for a while, something in us isn’t quite right. There are voids where there should be contacts.

Another theme I hear from you is one of grief, which sometimes looks like anxiety. Staying with the grief, that something in us (soul?) knows the world after COVID-19 will be both different and the same. But, the soul asks, what will be different? And what will be the same?

If only we could confidently answer those questions right now. Would that we could know when the anxiety and grief will at least subside. But we do know that for all the lives this cunning virus claims, there will be life beyond these times. And to borrow from my evangelical days, what a glorious time that will be.

Hang in there, everybody.
