UUFH is a Family

Dear UU Family,
The hardships we’ve encountered this year are not minor, and I know that too many of you are grieving or having to make tough calls professionally and personally.
Funerals. Flooded homes. Kids in surgery. Furlough letters. Divorce papers. Diagnoses. Expensive meds. Expensive specialists. Executive orders. Rough parent teacher conferences. And now fires in our backyard. What a year we’re having!
Our exact circumstances are different, but our pains are shared! Whether your kid isn’t allowed to use the student bathrooms at school or you’re debating whether to move your family to Atlanta to keep your job with Medicaid, you are not alone!
The world is on fire both literally and figuratively right now, and while the flames are real, I want to assure you that the power of love and our shared values exceeds the power of the destruction and fear around us! UUFH is here for you, and your child is a cherished member of our community!
Thanks for making UUFH your spiritual home and the village you can rely on! You are the heartbeat of the Family Ministry program, and the reason UUFH is a sweet place to raise your children.
Love, Sunday Shae
We can help Migrant workers
Please help our migrant workers who will soon be arriving in our area. They will be helping refurbish fields affected by Hurricane Helene, plant, nourish and pick our fruits and vegetables. UUFH and many other churches/organizations are preparing welcome bags for at least 700-800 workers and their families.
Place all these items in separate bags/boxes and label Migrants. Please bring your items by April 15. This year, we need these workers more than ever, and they need our help more than ever.
When we welcome all types of strangers, we affirm the value and dignity of all humans and promote justice, equity, and the best parts of democracy.
We are collecting:
toiletries: soap, razors, toothbrushes / toothpaste, shampoo (small bottles), sunscreen
health and safety items: sunscreen, insect repellant, liquid iv mix, electrolyte powders
clothing items: ball caps, light-weight long sleeve shirts, black socks (knee high cotton),
bedding and home items: clean sheets, blankets, towels, and box fans
