This Week at UUFH:

This week during Sunday School we will continue our exploration of the Civil Rights movement and discuss ways to put our UU principles to action as we combat racism.

We will finish designing our “I Have a Dream” bulletin board and watch some clips of African American heroes in action. Ronnie Pepper is not available for this Sunday, but he is planning on visiting us next month for our Black History Month celebration.

Save the Dates:

  • January 21 – Part 2 of Lessons about the Civil Rights Movement and our UU Values
  • January 28 – Lunar New Year Celebration & Fire Ceremony
  • February 4 – Family Ministries Council Meeting 12-1 in the Cottage after Coffee Hour.

Caregiver’s Corner:

In the PBS KIDS Talk About: Race & Racism special, hosted by the country’s first National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman, PBS KIDS spoke with real families and had conversations about racial identity, anti-Black racism, and how it is incumbent on all of us — children and parents alike — to actively work towards building a more equitable society.

Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., never backed down in his stand against racism. Learn more about the life of this courageous hero who inspired millions of people.
