Green Sanctuary: Climate Justice

GREEN SANCTUARY CORNER, June

The Green Sanctuary Congregational Project is an endeavor of the Social Justice/Environment Justice Team and members of UUFH.
Each month the team will share helpful information with the congregation through the Green Sanctuary Corner.

Some “food for thought” from your Social Justice – Green Sanctuary Team

Food waste is one of the major contributors to greenhouse gases such as methane. Today, an estimated, one-third of all the food produced in the world goes to waste somewhere along the food delivery chain.

To reduce food waste at home:

  • plan meals and shop from a list
  • store food promptly and properly
  • understand “use by” and “best before” dates
  • use leftovers promptly or freeze extra portions
  • composting food scraps can also significantly reduce waste

BTW: Did you know that UUFH has a compost bin outside Fellowship Hall and that you can utilize the countertop and floor bins in the kitchen?
