Nora’s Musings:

Last week we lost someone very important; The Notorious RBG. A supreme court justice of 20+ years, a survivor, a fighter, a mother, a wife, and a hero to so many. She died on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, the last day of the Jewish calendar, a day that commemorates the creation of the world and marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, a 10-day period of introspection and repentance that culminates in Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. It is said that one who dies on Rosh Hashanah is a tzaddik, a person of great righteousness, because God needed them until the very last day.

Since we cannot say RIP, Rest in Peace or the more modern Rest in Power, as that would cause Jewish RBG to dissent from her grave. Instead, let her memory fuel our revolution! Because we cannot let her down.

This Sunday is Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, where we collect up our sins from the past year and burn them in the fire. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. We wipe the slate clean and make promises to God for the new year.

What sins have you horded this year? Will the next year be anything but more of the same? Shame. Anger. Resentment. Blame. Add your fuel to our communal fire. Long Live the Revolution! May it never go out.
