Nora’s Musings:

You wonder why “kids these days” are the way we are?

Watch some of our films – Mulan, Wall-e, and Pocahontas, then ask me again.

I am a product of my time.

So, you think I'm an ignorant savage;
and you've been so many places,
I guess it must be so.
But still I cannot see,
if the savage one is me,
how can there be so much that you don't know?

You think you own whatever land you land on.
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim.
But I know every rock and tree and creature
has a life, has a spirit, has a name.

You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew, you never knew.

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest?
Come taste the sun sweet berries of the Earth?
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth

The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends.

How high will the sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you'll never know.
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon.
For whether we are white, or copper skinned,
we need to sing with all the voices of the mountains.
We need to paint with all the colors of the wind.
You can own the Earth and still
All you'll own is Earth until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind.

Ever Individual thing is connected to the one. and if you cut it down and study the component parts (DNA, tree rings, etc.) then you will never really know the thing or truly understand it because it has been separated from the One.

Saint Augustine, a famous theologian, philosopher, and writer during the 1st century AD, whose writings heavily influenced the early development of western Philosophy and Christianity and was posthumously named a saint by the catholic church, said that you must “believe in order to understand” rather than believing because of understanding and finding proof because then it is no longer faith, it is reason and faith isn’t pure if it is derived solely from fact.

In the 1950’s there was a scientific theory called the “God Spot” that scientists tried to find in people’s brains that proved religion was made up entirely of a brain anomaly and also gave a reason for people’s faith. But it wasn’t there, they dissected brain after brain during autopsies and found no physical cause for faith.

90% of all plant life on earth is connected to the Mycelium network. A symbiotic relationship between the plant’s roots and the mycelium in fungi. This relationship allowed for the development of all life on earth because without the fungi ‘s help plants wouldn’t be able to process oxygen and we would all be giant fish living in the oceans.

So, what I’m saying is you can’t fully understand something as a whole if you break it apart because the thing is more than just the sum its component parts. Faith stems from the mind not the brain; and all life stems from our relationships within this interconnected web we call Life.
