Everyone at UUFH is invited to visit our group and share in this beautiful experience of Love and Healing. The origin of this process is Lynne McTaggart’s work with her Power of 8 groups, although we have adjusted the process in a few ways to suit our preferences.
We meet from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on Thursdays, and manage to do 3 8-minute “intentions” during that time. The facilitator, Diane Baker, typically brings suggestions for the topics of intention, and everyone is welcome to add their two cents for how to improve what we are going to intend. We do not specify the outcome in too much detail. We ask Spirit to bring the Highest Good for All Concerned and the Greatest Degree of Love, regardless of what that looks like. We do our best to let go of ego demands. And we ask that all beings on the planet experiencing the issue at hand will share in the healing, i.e., not just one person or one group.
We’ll start with brief introductions and move quickly into energizing the first intention. There is a “powering up” process of relaxing and unifying the energy of the group, moving into focus on the intention and then silent sending of energy for 8 minutes. We return from the meditation together and if anyone wants to share briefly, they can. Then we move on to the next intention.
Anyone who has questions can ask them at any time except during the intention process. One phenomenon pointed out by McTaggart in her book is the “mirror effect,” in which all of us who are sending energy for the healing of others will begin experiencing healing in our own lives as a result of this work. It typically becomes noticeable during the first week after a meeting, but may not seem related to any particular intention. It is just a rebound effect of having selflessly intended for others.
Feel free to invite others who you think would enjoy adding to our collective energy. The healing momentum generated by these groups is powerful stuff, and I think you may enjoy connecting with these like-minded souls.
Note: this gathering is open to UUFH and non-UUFH folks.
