We are pleased to announce a CONGREGATIONAL READ for January and February: “ALL THAT SHE CARRIED: THE JOURNEY OF ASHLEY’S SACK, A BLACK FAMILY KEEPSAKE ” by Black historian, Tiya Miles.
Rev. Terry Davis featured aspects of the book during services on January 15, On February 26, she will continue with a second service which will again be followed by a facilitated discussion with Helen Bishop immediately after our Social-Coffee Hour (12 noon). The 1st discussion was well attended. it’s not too late to obtain your copy of the book and join us on Sunday, February 26. Attendees are welcome to brown bag a lunch or snack. Childcare will be provided (please contact judybonner1@nulloutlook.com).
Several members of the SJT have read and discussed this book and recommend it. “As I began reading early chapters of this book, I asked myself “what piece of my family’s history do I have to pass on and how does it differ from Ashley’s sack?”
