We’re thrilled to have a UUFHNC weekend retreat at The Mountain Retreat Center on October 25-27.
Festivities will begin with a dinner on Friday evening and end with lunch on Sunday afternoon. The cost includes all meals and accommodation for 2 nights. Below is a breakdown of costs. I would recommend singles pair up and save the cost of a single room.
Registration is now open! We hope you will make room on your calendar for this all congregation event! The Mountain offers incredible opportunities for us to bond in a gorgeous setting. We will be sending out an agenda for the weekend closer to the time of the retreat.
Located in the mountains of western NC, it is about an hour and forty minute drive on St. Rt. 64, scenic but winding! We can provide directions to those planning to attend.

The Mountain was founded in 1979 by a group of friends and Unitarian Universalists from across the southeast. They searched for somewhere they could deepen their engagement with their congregational communities and retreat with their families.
When they found Little Scaly Mountain, they knew they had discovered the right place and what it could become for so many.
Over more than 40 years, The Mountain has held true to its original vision and inspiration, serving as a nonprofit camp and conference center.
The Mountain is an ecologically conscious retreat and learning center serving congregations, businesses, schools, and other Unitarian Universalist and community groups.
Located on 4,200-foot-high granite cliffs on the Eastern Continental Divide in the Blue Ridge Mountains, they offer a unique opportunity in gratitude to the unique ecology and history of the oldest mountains in the world. It’s a wonderful way to refresh your spirit in the natural beauty of these ancient mountaintops.
They have a full range of dining, lodging, and meeting space facilities. Meal planning and food sources honor their commitment to sustainability. Many Hands Peace Farm is located at The Mountain Retreat & Learning Center, where they provide the kitchen with fresh & sustainably grown produce and free-range eggs.
There are eight different lodging options – all accommodations are casual. They do provide all linens (sheets, blankets, pillowcases, towels). There is a lodge for those preferring a less rustic feel, and cabins with amazing views.
There are walking trails, a labyrinth, 2 campfire sites, a fire tower with incredible views of the surrounding mountains, all of which add to the feeling of wonder, serenity, and peace when you enter The Mountain.
They are located 4 miles from the upscale resort town of Highlands,NC where there are wonderful shops, restaurants, and lodging.
