”Amos Does the Unthinkable”

In this time of racial injustice, income inequality, and the vulnerable and marginalized becoming more so, can we learn from a firebrand from our distant past?

Richard Weidler is a United Church of Christ minister who retired in 2018 after 37 years as a pastor, the last ten at First Congregational in Laurel Park.  He had previously served churches in Maine, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Virginia.  Richard graduated from the University of Virginia in 1975 and then studied in Europe for eighteen months (Brussels, Belgium; and Heidelberg, Germany).  He received his formal theological education at Union Theological Seminary (Va.) where he received a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1981.

Richard has two grown children, Andrew and Rebecca.  Andrew works at the University of California San Diego.  He and his wife Kristen recently purchased a home in San Diego.  Rebecca lives in Manhattan where she works as a Manager for Deloitte Consulting.  Richard is blessed to be in a loving relationship with former UU member and Office Manager, Laura Jump.
