From autoworkers to coal miners, UUFH member John Owens explores the history of the labor movement and its personal impact on his own family history and career
Our speaker is familiar to many of you in our UUFH congregation. John Owens and his wife Sara Hassinger, have been members of our fellowship since 2017 after moving here from Michigan.
John worked for twenty years at the NBC television station in Detroit as a producer-editor, then another 15 years in corporate communications. John is a gun violence survivor and has spoken about his experience and recovery at churches throughout Michigan and North Carolina including our fellowship. Today John will share his thoughts about the Labor movement…. part family history…part Detroit history, and how changes in the workplace has impacted communities throughout the country.
