What Lies Beyond Your Comfort Zone?

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”

Neale Donald Walsh

The comfort zone is defined as a space where your behaviors fit a routine and pattern that minimize stress and risk — the place we’re most at home. In our comfort zone there is a sense of familiarity, security, and certainty. When we venture outside it we are opening ourselves to creativity, personal growth, and achievement. Think about it: Did you ever do something you were really proud of when you were in autopilot mode?

Who doesn’t want that? Many of us. Because we also open ourselves to the anxiety of discomfort and uncertainty. But how can we expect to evolve in our lives and our relationships if we only stick to habit and routine? Reaching new heights involves some risk and great reward.

We share our journey off the easy path — to challenges and stretches that led to transformational people, experiences, conversations. Connections that have truly expanded us, helped us live more fully, and will keep us from saying those regrettable words “I wish I had.”
