UUFH OUTREACH COLLECTION: YOUTH HUNGER
On Sunday, November 6 your UUFH Social Justice Team began a new Outreach Collection for Youth Hunger. Rev. Terry Davis led with a sermon “How the Other Half Eats”. Following the sermon, Ms. Stacie Marlowe of the Boys & Girls Club spoke about the importance of Feed the Kids and Backpack programs to the youth who attend the Club and others in our community.
In this time of year when we celebrate our blessings, food insecurity remains a significant issue for many in our community. We all recognize that hungry children struggle to learn and to develop social skills. Providing additional nutritious meals and snacks is the goal of both Collection recipients: our Youth Hunger Collection is split between the Feed the Kids Coalition and the Flat Rock Backpack Program.
Your donations have provided funding for these 2 organizations each year for more than a decade. The 11/06 Sunday collection was dedicated to Youth Hunger. Donations may also be made by check to UUFH (write “Outreach-Youth Hunger” in the memo line) or on your UUFH website account. The Collection ends on November 27.
UPDATE: DIVERSITY BOOKS PROJECT Outreach Collection
Our October collection for the Diversity Books Project was a big success. Thanks to your donations, we collected $2,091.60. Thanks to our generous, anonymous donor, the $716.50 contributed between 10/17 and 10/31 will be matched bringing the total to $2808.10.
Your generosity will fund books for children in Henderson County Schools, the Migrant Education Project of the HC schools, the Boys & Girls Club and others.
