UUFH OUTREACH COLLECTION for the MIGRANT ED PROJECT
Our next UUFH Outreach Collection starts this SUNDAY, APRIL 2 with a guest from the Project plus special readings and music. Donations will be accepted through month end.
All otherwise undesignated contributions in the April 2 plate will support this Collection.
Designated Outreach contributions are welcome in the plate on April 9, 16, 23 & 30 plate and may also be made through your Vanco account.
Your generosity supports UUFH Principles and values in the local community and beyond.

A COMMUNITY COLLECTION “WELCOME MIGRANT WORKERS” for gift bags of essentials provided to this season’s arriving migrant workers is sponsored by volunteer congregations including UUFH.
This year’s drive through DROP-OFF SESSION is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, April 29 from 2-4:00 pm in the UUFH parking lot (office side of Patterson).
A designated drop off spot inside UUFH will also be available on SUNDAYS only beginning on April 2.
Please note the following:
- WE HAVE BEEN ASKED TO DONATE ONLY ITEMS ON THIS LIST – no “hotel freebies” or travel sizes please.
- UUFH members and friends may donate cash through our Outreach Collection during the month of April.
Items requested for WELCOME MIGRANT WORKERS bags:
- bar soap
- toothbrush and toothpaste (full size)
- packages of inexpensive razors
- 100% cotton bandanas (for best price & quality, shop Sherman’s on Main St.)
- ball caps (also at Sherman’s)
- small flashlight and batteries
- work gloves
A “PACK THE BAGS” SESSION will be held on Wednesday, May 3 from 12:00 noon to 2:30pm at Agudas Israel Synagogue at 505 Glasgow Lane, Hendersonville.
Volunteers: Anyone who would like to volunteer to help with the drive through event on April 29 or help pack bags at Agudas Israel Synagogue on May 3 should contact Anne Backer at (972)-849-9431 or acbacker@nullcopper.net. We welcome all volunteers as we hope to provide 1200 bags this year.
IAM is now accepting specific clothing items designated for migrant workers:
Clothing for migrants may be donated and delivered directly to IAM and must be designated for migrant workers.
- long sleeve shirts (sizes men’s medium and small)
- Work pants such as jeans, etc. (sizes 29 to 34 waist)
- Work shoes or boots
- Straw western style or safari hats
- Gently used or new socks

FRIDAY ACTION HOUR
Every Friday at 11:00am UUs from across the state gather to recap the past week and take action on the issues impacting our state and country. In the coming month, we’ll be focusing on the upcoming municipal elections and will also keep the pressure on our elected officials to better promote the HOPE program. We always have good music to help us feel the justice movement in our bones! Join us via this Zoom link.
