Justice is what love looks like in public.
SOCIAL JUSTICE TEAM (SJT)
Our next SJT monthly meeting will be in January – date & time to be determined (we’ve encountered a partner organization conflict on meeting dates which we’re attempting to resolve).
The SOCIAL JUSTICE TEAM is a self-selecting group open to all UUFH Members and Friends. We welcome all active participants. Whether your social justice interests are one or many, you can contribute to our SJT efforts. Your inputs are welcome. Contact any team member AND join the team to help carry out your suggestions.
Contact Charlotte Corrigan for the Agenda, minutes and meeting LINK and current schedule
GS2030 Green Sanctuary Renewal is included in our SJT meetings per the Fellowship’s approval of our UUFH Congregational Project for 2024-2025.
Join Social Justice Team (SJT)
We meet the first Tuesday of each month.
All are welcome to attend. These meetings are your chance to provide input and contribute to our UUFH Justice efforts. To participate, please e-mail Charlotte Corrigan for the agenda, minutes, and Zoom link.
DECEMBER OUTREACH COLLECTION:
Guest at Your Table – UU Service Committee
On Sunday, December 1, your UUFH Social Justice Team begins a new Outreach Collection: Guest at Your Table (GAYT) benefiting the UU Service Committee.
Since it began in 1975, the Guest at Your Table program has introduced generations of Unitarian Universalists to our grassroots partners working for justice around the world with your support. This church year, we are celebrating Guest at Your Table’s 50th anniversary with the theme “Expanding the Welcome Table.”
Videos: “What is Guest at Your Table?” animated video and “Meet This Year’s Guests!” Introduction Video
You can meet the guests representing this year’s expanded Table in these individual videos:
- 2 Young climate activists in the Marshall Islands helping their communities heal from the destructive legacy of nuclear testing by the United States while envisioning a sustainable future for their people. Video of Konea Ishimura from Jo-Jikum
- LGBTQ+ leaders in Ukraine offering resources and companionship to the queer community impacted by Russia’s full-scale invasion. Video of Anna-Maria Tesfaye from Queer Svit
- Haitian academics researching racism’s impacts on the experiences of migrants of color in the United States. Video of Suleyman Wellings-Longmore from the Haitian Bridge Alliance
- Trans organizers forming networks of safety and welcome for trans and gender expansive people forced to flee unsafe communities and states. Video of the Pink Haven Coalition
This year because of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend timing, the Family Ministry kids will distribute the traditional Guest at Your Table boxes and envelopes on December 8th.
Please note Guest at Your Table (GAYT) on the memo line of your check or envelope. Or simply select “donate” on our website.
Contributions will be accepted through January 5, 2025.
