OUTREACH COLLECTION: YOUTH HUNGER
continues through 12/20
The Youth Hunger Collection is split between two local organizations addressing food insecurity: Feed the Kids Coalition and the Flat Rock Backpack Program. The collection will remain open through December 20. Food insecurity remains a significant issue for many in our community. In these trying times of Covid-19, your donation is needed all the more.
UUFH members volunteer regularly for these two organizations by providing a nutritious meal or filling a backpack with a weekend’s worth of non-perishable foods. UUFH has raised funds in support of these two organizations from their inception.
Please give generously: Make your check out to UUFH, note “Youth Hunger” in the memo line, and mail to UUFH. You can also donate directly via your account on the UUFH website; select the “Outreach Collection” option.
UUJUSTICEMINISTRYNC: UUtheVote NC
During the UUJMNC/Forward Together Fall Gathering (November 22nd), NC UUs shared highlights of their work for UUtheVote in NC. These efforts involved dozens of congregations and hundreds of UUs across the state who logged thousands of hours making phone/text bank calls to voters and writing and mailing thousands of postcards to NC voters of color.
Want more UUJMNC Forward Together news? See the December Newsletter here https://www.uuforwardtogether.org/home-2/newsletter/
There’s a SUBSCRIBE button to receive the monthly newsletter in your own inbox each month. There’s also a DONATE button. UUJMNC needs our support; their support and connections to partners were key to our UUFH volunteer UUtheVote actions.
BLESSED THOUGHTS
as shared by UUJMNC in the December newsletter:
As we celebrate the work of UUs all across NC and the US to “give life the shape of justice” in 2020 and look forward to the work that lies before us in 2021, may these Beatitudes for Justice Builders written by Rev. Lindi Ramsden, a UU minister who, among other things, was the founding Executive Director of the UU Justice Ministry of California (2003), be a blessing and gift for all us during this holiday season and always.
Blessed are you who work in coalition rather than in principled isolation; you will meet great people, learn things you didn’t realize you needed to know, and have partners for the journey when you are in the lead, or in need.
The complete text of the Beatitudes is featured in the newletter.
