Social Justice and ARE Teams are now meeting in joint session.at 1 pm on the first Wednesday (Dec 1) of each month, via ZOOM
The Team is considering EVENING ZOOM MEETINGS beginning in January.
If evening sessions would enable you to participate, team members would like your FEEDBACK for day of the week and time preferences.
All are welcome to attend; these meetings are your chance to provide input and contribute to our UUFH justice efforts. Contact Charlotte Corrigan for more information – i.e., agenda, prior minutes, Zoom link – if you would like to participate.

JUSTICE SUNDAY – Youth Hunger
At the UUFH service on November 7, we held our first OUTREACH COLLECTION of the year which featured 2 guest speakers – Kay Thomas of FEED the KIDS Coalition and Debby Staton of Backpack.
Food insecurity is experienced by 1 in 5 children in Henderson County.
Collection donations may be made through November 30 (by check or on the UUFH website).

FRIDAY ACTION HOUR
Every Friday at 11:00 UUs from across the state gather to recap the past week and take action on the issues impacting our state and country. In the coming month, we’ll Be Keeping the pressure on our elected officials to better promote the HOPE program. We always have good music to help us feel the justice movement in our bones! State of Education in Henderson County
per League of women Voters – Henderson County announcement December 7, 5:00-6:00pm Kaplan Auditorium – Hendersonville Main Library HCPS Superintendent Dr. John Bryant will speak on the state of pre-K-12 public education in Henderson County.
No registration needed; open to the public. Please come and bring friends.
Henderson County NAACP Coat Drive
We will be accepting coats for children, women and men from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on December 3, 2021 at
St. Paul Tabernacle A.M.E .Zion Church. 813 Six Ave. West, Hendersonville, NC across from the YMCA.
All donations are welcome and they will be disturbed to the different agencies where there is a need.
CLIMATE JUSTICE CONGREGATIONAL PROJECT
Having received UUFH approval to continue with this vital project, we can now move forward with some on-hold activities and seek new opportunities for congregational education and action, including use of UUA/& UU Justice NC resources, and continuing UUtheVote advocacy, with a focus on fair redistricting and voter rights.
We’ll add a new emphasis on the 8th principle per a separate congregational vote held at our Annual Meeting.
The 8th Principle states: “We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”
