Climate Justice Congregational Project Activities are underway – especially those pertaining to voting. Those whom we elect to public office and their appointees have great influence on the success of our social justice efforts – whether we are focused on race relations, equality and dignity for all, gun sense, environmental concerns, access to medical care and more
Census Reminder Calls
We need Justice Seekers! As you know, the more people who complete the US CENSUS, the more benefits to North Carolina. You Can Vote (youcanvote.org) is asking UUFH to contact lists of people who have not yet turned in their census form. Many on these lists were previously registered by YCV.
SJOT hopes this sounds like something you are willing to do. YCV is asking for a 2-hour total time commitment (You might want to do more when you see how easy it is!) The first hour is a background and training webinar; Download the Webinar Recording. Judy Bonner is coordinating this activity for SJOT and will send you the census calling script for reference during the webinar if you request a copy from her.
After you watch the webinar, you have two choices. You can say, sorry this is not for me or you can say yes and commit to ONE HOUR MINIMUM calling period on either Tuesday, June 16 or Thursday, June 18 between 2 and 5 PM. If yes, contact Judy Bonner with your chosen time slot so she can provide you with the links you need as well as having a YOU CAN VOTE organizer ready to help you with any issues.
We need to do all we can in these troubling times. Love, Peace and Justice!

Postcards Have Been Mailed
Following last week’s distribution of 1500 postcards, the volunteers – SJOT members and others from UUFH – turned the campaign into one of camaraderie in the time of pandemic. As many of the volunteers completed and mailed their postcards off, they proudly broadcast the news via email to all the other volunteers. Thanks to our partnership with UU Justice Ministry NC and their support from UUA and our partnership with Reclaim Our Vote, UUFH was fully covered for the expenses of the campaign to re-register voters purged from the voter rolls. Kudos to our volunteers!
