From the Rev. Michael J. Crumpler, LGBTQ and Multicultural Programs Director for Ministries and Faith Development:
Dear Beloved,
Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court heard three cases that could either take away existing LGBTQ+ employment protections or affirm that existing federal law does protect LGBTQ+ people.
We know this is a pivotal moment for our community, as well as a difficult environment for everyone. So we’re inviting you to join us on #DecisionDay* for our Virtual National Rally that will be followed immediately by our Virtual Town Hall.
*The U.S. Supreme Court doesn’t give advance notice so we won’t know the exact date for #DecisionDay until that morning.
The rally will provide a chance for us to gather together as a community to react and support each other, while the Town Hall will feature experts providing analysis of the opinion, how it will affect our lives, and what still needs to be done.
RSVP to #DecisionDay Events
The Court must affirm that all LGBTQ+ people should be able to work hard and support themselves and their families without fear of discrimination at work — protections already affirmed by multiple federal courts and agencies for many years. We will also need to continue our work for full federal nondiscrimination protections.
So RSVP, and let’s come together as a virtual community for #DecisionDay!
Gratefully,
Michael
