FACILITIES UPDATES
Becky Elston, Facilities Team Leader was told “Ma’am you’re full up”
These were the words of the AAA Septic technician as he serviced the septic tank for the church building.
No one ever thinks about our septic systems, until there’s a problem. Without any written documentation or only folklore about where the systems were located, we decided to remedy the situation. In September we had the systems located for the office and the cottage. Turns out the office has two and one is under the carport in back, under cement. The other tank was located behind the minister’s study and serviced.
The church’s system turned into a bigger project. The tank was located quickly under the middle of the road that goes around the back of the church. However it was so deep and had to be dug out with special equipment. The septic company remembered pumping the tank 15 years ago but we had no documentation. After contacting 811 (Digging) to mark utilities, the tank was located 4.5 feet down and serviced. Now we have pictures and lots of documentation for future generations.
I’m sure very few people even noticed but the carpet in the sanctuary had rippled in over 30 places though out the room. Some of the ripples were 4-5 feet long and others were only one foot long. We had Flooring America come and inject glue and smooth out the ripples. It looks fantastic.
Fellowship Hall “Fall Freshen Up”!
Your UUFH Board has some good news to share! We have just approved a project that will make Fellowship Hall as inviting as the Sanctuary!
We’ll be removing the dark, stained carpet tiles and installing Floating Luxury Vinyl planks in Fellowship Hall. This plank flooring is extremely durable, wipeable, and has a nice cushion to it. The top of the flooring is a little ridged so it’s not slippery at all! After the floors are installed, the walls and trim in Fellowship Hall will be painted. The colors for both the flooring and paint will lighten and brighten the space and create a more inviting environment for our members and guests. We’re also hoping to create some additional opportunities for leasing the space for wedding receptions, graduation parties, anniversary parties etc within the Hendersonville community. Have your wedding in our beautiful Sanctuary then come downstairs for a reception in our inviting Fellowship Hall.
Due to contractor schedules, it looks like the flooring will be installed in the early part of October with the painting following towards the end of the month. The classrooms, kitchen and bathrooms will not be changed at this time.
We’re excited to share this news with everyone! We’ll update you as things progress!
