I started visiting WNC regularly when my daughter and her husband moved to Asheville in 2009. In 2011, my twin granddaughters were born, so I came more often to help out. In 2018, my younger daughter and her growing family relocated to Asheville so the cousins could grow up together. My husband, Alan, and I decided it made sense to someday retire near our family in WNC. In late 2019, I retired as a Principal Ecologist from an environmental company in Gainesville, Florida. Shortly thereafter, I was invited to help with my grandsons’ virtual schooling during the pandemic. So I packed my dog Gracie into my car and we headed to Asheville, while my husband continued working in Florida. In July 2021, after purchasing a small house here, I made Hendersonville my home. In November 2021, my granddaughter, Sybil Prairie, was born and I welcomed the opportunity to help care for her last year.
Having been a member at a UU fellowship in Gainesville, FL, I started visiting UUFH and recently joined. In my spare time I love to camp, hike, kayak, garden and be with my grandchildren. I am in the process of adding native landscaping to my yard.
