This Week at UUFH:

This week during Sunday School, we will learn about the Lunar New Year and have a fire communion outside. Kids and caregivers are invited to participate in this UU ritual to say goodbye to last year’s worries and regrets and to welcome a new year full of hope and possibilities. We hope you can join us!

Save the Dates:

  • January 28 – Lunar New Year Celebration & Fire Ceremony
  • February 4 – Family Ministries Council Meeting 12-1 in the Cottage after Coffee Hour.

Caregiver’s Corner:

In the words of Rev. Elizabeth Harding, “The fire communion separates the end of the year from the beginning, helping us to put in perspective the joys and sorrows, the changes and transitions, the ups and downs of the year.”

In the fire communion ceremony, people are invited to write down words and phrases to sum up what they wish to release before entering the new year. They then come forward to burn that piece of paper.
