Rabbi Rachel Jackson , guest speaker

Rabbi Rachael Jackson has been the rabbi at Agudas Israel Synagogue since 2015. Prior to rabbinical school, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and worked for a nearly decade as an analytical chemist.
Rabbi Jackson was also a 2017-2019 fellow with Sinai and Synapses. She is especially interested in the field of medical ethics at those liminal moments of life. This fellowship led her and other fellows to create a podcast called “Down the Wormhole”, which explores the strange and fascinating relationship between science and religion. Currently in its second year, you can find all episodes wherever you find podcasts.
Working and volunteering in our community is key and as such, she is immediate Past President of the Interfaith Assistance Ministries. Rabbi Jackson is married to Danyul and together they have an empathetic and enthusiastic third grade son, Adrian who says he’ll be an author when he grows up.
Jenna Jaffe, guest musician
Jenna Jaffe has been performing music, dancing and making art since she was a child. She has a vocal performance degree from the UC Santa Barbara and extensive graduate vocal work at the USC. Jenna is multifaceted. She is a multi-instrumentalist who has taught for thirty years. She is mixed media visual artist that focuses on equality for all life ( you can see her work at The Refinery, in Asheville). Jenna teaches ESL at AB Tech, is on the Board at AAPF, and both National & WNC Music Teachers Association.
In 2022 she received a Tzedek Social Justice Impact Award for her musical and artistic work engaged in community activism and system change.
In her “spare” time she gardens, studies languages, mindfulness, and energy healing. She also performs regularly in Asheville NC.
