“Mis-Fitting, for a Change”

We think of misfits as outcasts at worst, and outliers at best. Misfits are hated (think Martin Luther King, Jr.), ignored, and generally they do not last, because being a misfit is serious business. It is no romantic pipe-dream of a life, but a serious commitment to practice seeing the world differently, and then going public with that vision of difference. Marc’s definition of being a misfit: letting go of things, to save what we love.Marc’s talk will focus on what a misfit is, and the spiritual practices to train to become one.

Marc Mullinax has been a friend of UUFH, and a frequent visitor to this pulpit since 2002. Through these glad years he has been extended every courtesy and hospitality, which has emboldened Marc to present creative – and sometimes edgy – talks.
Marc is Professor Emeritus of Religion at Mars Hill University, and is the creator of the podcast, “Power for the Peaceful: A Course in Taoism.” He is also a house host at the Biltmore House in Asheville.
