Reparations (from Re-Pair) as an issue has not gone away, because our current state of democracy, our nation, its capitalist system and its position as the #1 power ever in the entire history of the world have all been enabled because of two national policies: enslaving African-descended persons within the US borders against every law, as well as ethnic cleansing of this land’s original Native inhabitants.
What would it take to bring justice to the victims, and to those descendants who have lived diminished lives? Can we ultimately escape the Reparations question, or is it our day of judgment coming in the future? As time passes, and as generations of African and Native Americans fall and arise, will there ever be a season of reckoning, an honest assessment of history, and a national conversation about what is fair and just? What could it look like? How do we prepare for it?
Join Marc on July 12 for this sobering, reflective meditation on what the conversation could look like for us.
