DREAM SCHOLARSHIP COLLECTION – begins February 12th
The Social Justice Team will present a guest speaker this Sunday, February 12 to begin our Outreach Collection for the Dream Scholarships. This effort continues through March 1. In the 10 plus years since its founding at UUFH, donations in our community have funded scholarships for approximately 50 college students brought to the US as children. These Dreamers are qualified through a rigorous process and may receive up to $2500/year towards their continuing education.

To ensure that your donation is correctly credited:

[1] you can put your cash donation in the
Sunday plate – any cash donation must be labeled for the Outreach Collection),

[2] you can donate by check through March 1 – please put Outreach Collection in the memo line, or

[3] you can donate online through March 1 at the UUFH website – select “Outreach Fund”.

–The North Carolina Legislature is back in session—and they’re already talking about weakening our state’s gun laws.

North Carolina lawmakers are advancing a dangerous gun bill that would repeal background checks on all unlicensed handgun sales, including from gun shows or strangers offering handguns for sale online.

This bill would open up a massive and dangerous loophole in our state. By eliminating the pistol purchase permit, it would also eliminate the unlicensed sale background check requirement. This makes it easier for felons, domestic abusers, and extremists with criminal histories to buy handguns.

Send a message to your lawmakers urging them to oppose HB 50 >>
