As a community of compassionate, caring people, we are everywhere in Henderson County volunteering our time and talents to many worthy non-profit organizations. We want to highlight our members and friends who regularly give back locally. - UUs in Action: Donating BloodRon started donating blood about 15 years ago and to date has given 12 gallons of blood. Ron donates “whole blood” which is the most flexible type of donation. It can be transfused in its original form, or used to help multiple people when separated into its specific components of red cells, plasma and platelets. ...
- UUs in Action: Carl Sandburg HomeLynn and Steve Weisberg are true Carl Sandburg people! They began volunteering there in February of 2019.
- UUs in Action: Big Brothers Big SistersBill Reese started with Big Brothers/Big Sisters in 1972 and has had matches with a Little Brother on and off ever since. His first match crossed racial lines at an interesting point in time.
- UUs in Action: The Free ClinicsBecky Elston has served on the board of directors of The Free Clinics for almost six years. She’s also worked as a committee chair and nurse volunteer.
- UUs in Action: Feed the KidsUUFH participates in one of the teams who prep and serve Friday Meals at the Boys & Girls Club through the organization Feed the Kids!
- UUs in Action: Pardee HospitalLee, Bill, and Peggy volunteer each week at Pardee Hospital.
