Musings from the Music Mouse

Many members of the UUFH choir also sing in one or more other choirs. We have several members of the Carolina Concert Choir, among others. Some are part of Flat Rock Playhouse or are open to ad hoc groups directed by such local musicians as Robert Hudson. Choir members learn far more than how to sing in harmony, or sing a particular line, such as bass or soprano. UUFH choir members also acquire excellent musicianship under the direction of Katherine Price. They learn the basics of choral repertoire, ranging from Renaissance and Baroque music to spirituals to jazz and Broadway productions. They also learn how to communicate with an audience, and how to bring out artistic elements used by composers. It’s a privilege to sing in the congregation’s choirs, as a member of the youth choir or the adult choir, and we hope, if you love to sing, you’ll consider joining us!
