“What the World Religions Get Wrong”

Marx says religion is an addictive opiate; Freud says religion is a neurosis we mature out of; some say religion is more superstition than imagination. Still others say religion at its base is hate and prejudice. Maybe some of that is true. Religions can do good work, and yet, there is so much potential for religions’ truths to get twisted, manipulated, or changed by their human handlers into something else.

Join Dr. Marc Mullinax in this 1st of a 2-part presentation on Sunday February 18. It’s emphasis is on What the World Religions Get Wrong … and Right. He will present part 2 at 1:00 PM in Fellowship Hall.

Speaker: Dr. Marc Mullinax

Marc Mullinax has been a friend and frequent visitor to this pulpit since 2002. Through these glad years he has been extended every courtesy and hospitality, which has emboldened Marc to present creative – and sometimes edgy – talks.

Marc is Professor Emeritus of Religion at Mars Hill University, and is the creator of the podcast, “Power for the Peaceful: A Course in Taoism.” He is also a house host at the Biltmore House in Asheville, near to where he lives.
